Here is the log from my Vista computer Starting Nmap 4.76 ( http://nmap.org ) at 2009-03-14 20:50 Taipei Standard Time SENT (0.5700s) TCP 5.246.74.124:53781 > 125.60.241.186:80 A ttl=55 id=58574 iplen=40 seq=1516356720 win=4096 ack=2164348580 SENT (0.5730s) ICMP 5.246.74.124 > 125.60.241.186 echo request (type=8/code=0) ttl=52 id=45818 iplen=28 SENT (2.5740s) ICMP 5.246.74.124 > 125.60.241.186 echo request (type=8/code=0) ttl=43 id=49122 iplen=28 SENT (2.5740s) TCP 5.246.74.124:53782 > 125.60.241.186:80 A ttl=46 id=17112 iplen=40 seq=1516291185 win=3072 ack=3027690959 Note: Host seems down. If it is really up, but blocking our ping probes, try -PN Nmap done: 1 IP address (0 hosts up) scanned in 3.60 seconds The IP address which I scanned is my own, and it's obviously up since I am able to use my internet. My XP computer is out of action now. I'm not sure when I'll be able to use it again. I'd just like to get the problem fixed on my Vista computer. Thanks. It keepssayingthat the host is down, even though I scan different hosts and I canverifythat they are up and usable. I think that this is a Vista issue since Icanuse Nmap without problems on my XP computer. Please send a log of each scan from both the XP and Vista hosts. Use the command nmap -sP --packet-trace <target> where you replace <target> with whatever target you are scanning. David Fifeld
