What we did was make a new "broadcast" category and put all the broadcast-* scripts in it. We also took them out of "discovery" to reduce the chance that they will be run when putting together a normal category selection. (The only categories the broadcast-* scripts were in were "discovery" and "safe"; we didn't change the "safe" part.)
It seems we're developing a lot of (good!) policy on categories. Perhaps this should be documented in the book for a definitive reference?
