This is indeed a better solution, but we won't accept this patch. It's such a narrow use case that I recommend you just add the patch to your build system, or else run just autoconf in the libpcre directory. Also note that the configure problem in http://seclists.org/nmap-dev/2012/q1/1 has been fixed since a long time, so you may not even need autoreconf anymore.
