Hi Henri,

If you notice the command I've used, you see that I've used the -R switch,

The command I use is : nmap -sn -R x.x.x.x/24

Im using the command "nmap -sn -R x.x.x.x/24" to get a list of all host
up
in the network.

While it works fine on a linux machine including DNS names, I observe the
following on a windows :
(command modified a little to explain the issue)

DNS name resolution skips hosts here and there ( usually all alternate
host
names are dropped)

Any idea why this happens or is there a workaround?

Thanks!

Hi,

I don't think it's a defect. Use -R if you want DNS resolution to be
always done, -n to disable it (as man said, default is "sometimes").
