Another man down. The industry, as a whole, will miss you Ange. May you be remembered for more than your multiple additions to various change logs. Rest in peace. On Fri, Nov 8, 2013 at 8:40 AM, Luis MartinGarcia. <luis.mgarc () gmail com>wrote:

Thanks and congrats to you, Aleksandar, and to all of you Nmap devs. Ange GutekHi everyone. I'm rather devastated to report that the personal battleAngereferences above was with pancreatic cancer and he died barely twomonthsafter writing it (on September 25, 2012). He was only 36 years old Hismost popular scripts are probably ftp-anon and finger, which runby default. Ange was always extremely helpful on this mailing list, evento newbies asking "dumb questions". He was quick to volunteer for even thankless tasks like manually filtering out spam from this mailing list when it got past the automated filters. He did that for years. and is survived by his 16-year-old daughter, Valentina. He was born and grewupin Lubin, a small town in western Poland. His mother was French and he later moved to France and joined the army as an electronic warfare specialist. It was in France that he met his wife and had his onlychild.Ange joined the Nmap community in 2005 by writing a French manual forNmap.Later he formed a team to translate our official documentation. Hethenturned to programming and was one of the first to embrace our Nmap Scripting Engine. He authored or co-authored 10 of the scripts that we still have today. Ange may be gone, but millions of people still usehiswork. His most popular scripts are probably ftp-anon and finger, whichrunby default. While Gutek's passing is a tragedy, I'm really glad that his lastthread onthis list was such a beautiful collaboration. It should read from the bottom of the page up at http://seclists.org/nmap-dev/2012/q3/204. Rest in peace, Ange Gutek! FyodorThis is terrible. I've been working with Ange, both on and off-list and it was always a pleasure. I especially won't forget his communicable humor and motivation. My thoughts go to his family and friends. Que la terre lui soit légère.Wow. I am really sad to hear this. Rest in peace, Ange, and thank you for all you did for the Nmap project.
