Stop me if you feel like this is thread-jacking but, what if you are hosting shells for people you don't know? How do you secure your box and each account? (This is completely hypothetical. of course)
A good starting point would be separate groups for users, locking down access outside of their home directories, using things like sudo to grant escalated privileges.. simple things like that. Then just build on that. A little different, and getting way off topic, but something like linux-vserver or just simple jails could be useful.. -jon
