Netbook for travel and hacking

I'm using an eee 900, still left the original (average) Linux Distro that it
came with and just boot BT3 off my USB stick whenever I want to use that.
The built in atheros card it came with is great for any wireless testing -
the keyboard is sometimes a little undersensitive but apart from that there
a no complaints. What more could you want?

The HP Mini 1000 series is the successor to the 2133. Has an intel atom
(1.6) and 1gb, expandable to 2. Really slick, and a nice size keyboard
(larger than any other i've seen). I'm really happy with it. also has a
broadcom (b43) wireless card that can inject out of the box (haven't
tested).

one caveat, HP has not released the external monitor adapter (yet). problems
with distribution.

I was looking at the same thing last night. Problem with the HP that
was linked to is that its a VIA processor which is grossly slower than
the Atom chips. I like the Dell too and will be probably buying one
myself. let us know which way you go.

Just as a thought, you might want to take a look at the keyboards on
these. Some of them put some keys in strange places and can really
mess you up when typing until you get used to it.

I like the Dell Mini myself.

Hey guys,
Im thinking about replacing my quite reliable IBM X30 with a netbook.
As there are quite some available by now (eeePC, MSI Wind, Dell
Mini ...) the choice is pretty hard.

What are your recommendations / experiences.

Some preferences for me would be:
-light and small ( useless to say ;-) )
-musst be dual bootable (Win / Linux [Backtrack])
-Disk space is not so important
-External antenna mod and other mods musst be possible

To make it short, the ultimate companion for traveling, hacking,
having fun while not at home.

Thanks,
Nils

I second Tim's recommendation. SQL Express should work fine for
this. And definitely check out the Foundstone Hacme series, as John
suggested on Ep 143. Hacme bank is GREAT!!!

go with express. I believe that is the free version. That will
give you 2 things, 1 a test bed, and 2 a good piece of SW to learn
on, that will probably be installed (as a feature of other software)

Hi
I'm setting up a windows lab machine and want sql server on it. I'm
looking at playing with basic sql injection and stored procedures, in
particular xp_cmdshell. Does anyone know if there are any differences
for this kind of thing between the express version of sql server and
the paid for versions or are the differences purely in the amount of
data and things like that?
