IRC Client and Perl/Python text editor

Im a unix guy so i use Vim...even on windows ;)

Mirc is usually the win32 client of choice. If you want something  
better youll need to use unix: install Cygwin, setup a vm, or build a  
box you can ssh to from putty. Chances are good that server will come  
in handy for lots of other things

Irssi and bitchx are popular. I use naim, but im quite aware how odd  
that is
