I was wondering if there was a way to set up 2 "redundant" web servers (identical web sites), i.e. when one crashes, the other one takes the connection over.
You have both software-based and hardware-based options. For a software-based and Microsoft-oriented solution, you might want to take a look here: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/windows2000serv/technologies/iis/deploy/confeat/webclust.mspx or here: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/windowsserver2003/technologies/clustering/winclstt.mspx Or, depending on the traffic that your servers have to handle and on your budget, you may want to buy a load balancer. Cisco, Foundry and Radware (just to name a few) can provide you with a box to put in front of your servers in order to manage the connections between them, both in active/active and in active/passive configuration.
