This has all changed significantly since Microsoft acquired Visio. Visio Enterprise used to include the SNMP mapping tool that auto-generated Visio maps. We have successfully used Visio 2002 Enterprise to map statewide WANs of over 1700 networks, 35k+ nodes. With Visio 2003 and beyond, however, that functionality is gone. In order to map networks with Visio, you have to purchase Fluke's LanMapShot tool for about $300. The tool will do SNMP scans given your constraints, map interface names, speeds, types, router/switch info, etc. and then build a visio map based on that data. It's not as well integrated as the old Visio 2002 tool, nor is it as flexible, but it does do a good job. Be aware that it will generate very cluttered maps if you have a large network, requiring a ton of hand-editing time. Best of luck. Also if theres any utility (preferably open source) than can generate a network map from nmap logs. any help will be highly appreciated __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
