Satya, Most of the AS/400 boxes I have audited contained default usernames and passwords. When a new profile is created on OS/400, the default password assigned is the profile name. Combine this with the fact that ftp, telnet, pop services provide you with useful information about existing profiles, and you will get a valid profile on the os/400 quite easily. (It will give you a different error message if the account exists but you tried logging in with a wrong password, than if the profile does not exist on the system). Shalom Carmel has written an excellent book on iSeries hacking and he has also give presentations on blackhat (or will give ...) about hacking os/400. Google is still your best friend ... Hope this helps On 4/5/06 11:30 AM, "culdud () gmail com" <culdud () gmail com> wrote:
