Or, instead, simply cause someone outside the US to produce a
freeware version not subject to US Import/Export laws, perhaps in a
country like Syria, where no one can enforce US laws. After all, the
basics of PGP are public knowledge. Lots of people use the freeware
version, and it has been used by 'the Mob' for years, yet that did
not result in elimination of the freeware version.

Note that I am not encouraging this, but its feasibility is common
knowledge.
