POSITION DESCRIPTION

INTERNET ACTIVIST

Electronic Privacy Information Center Washington, DC

The Electronic Privacy Information Center is an Internet civil
liberties organization, based in Washington, DC. EPIC pursues public
interest litigation, conducts public education, testifies in
Congress, organizes conferences, coordinates grassroots advocacy,
publishes books, reports, and an online newsletter. EPIC also
maintains several well-regarded web sites.

Description: Maintain and manage office computers, LAN, peripheral
and other equipment; maintain several web sites and mailing lists;
monitor newsgroups, electronic mailing lists and domestic and
foreign news sites for stories of interest relating to privacy and
free speech; manage EPIC Online Bookstore; assist EPIC staff on
special projects as required.

Qualifications: Strong interest in and commitment to civil liberties
issues relating to the Internet, particularly free speech, privacy,
open government and encryption; knowledgeable in LAN, web design,
HTML, web development, mailservers, listservers, Mac OS, Linux, and
MS Word; good writing and communications skills; well organized and
reliable.

Salary: $25,000-$35,000 plus benefits

reports and articles; attend conferences; organize coalitions.

skills. Familiarity with legislative process, preferably with
previous work experience in Congress or other policy organization.
Knowledge of HTML. Strong interest in civil liberties issues
relating to the Internet, particularly free speech, privacy, and
open government.

Salary: $25,000-$35,000 plus benefits
