The Canadian government today announced plans to review the section of the 
federal Security of Information Act that allowed the raid:

It's in the last paragraph. The search warrants used in the O'Neill case 
reportedly cited Section 4 of the act as the applicable law in the 
investigation.

The Arar case itself calls into question the Canadian government's 
anti-terrorism activities since 9-11; calling a public inquiry into what 
happened to the guy is roughly the Canadian equivalent of having a special 
committee of Congress looking into the treatment of prisoners at Guantanamo 
Bay.

The inquiry into the Canadian government's role in Arar's deportation to 
Syria is arguably a direct result of the public outcry over the RCMP raids 
on Juliet O'Neill's office and home.
