Forwarded message:I don't think horsepower is the issue right now, but it may become one. My firewall/snort box is a Pentium 150 with 96MB ram but it's on a dialup... ...an *SX* with 10MB?Actually, I think horsepower and ram is a definite potential cause of problems. I would not run a print server on such a low configuration, let alone an IDS system.
Bah. I wouldn't think horsepower were the problem in this case. And I have to take exception to your excessive system requirements: 150MHz/96MB is plenty for all but the most hammered of print servers, given enough disk space. We ran our Oracle production server on a Pentium 90 with 64MB of RAM for a year and a half without it falling over. It served over 20 connections a minute... -- Alex Hooper _______________________________________________ Snort-users mailing list Snort-users () lists sourceforge net Go to this URL to change user options or unsubscribe: http://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/snort-users Snort-users list archive: http://www.geocrawler.com/redir-sf.php3?list=snort-users
