snortdb / Oracle question

Oh wise and powerful mailing group subscribers, please hear my
question...

Would like to log snort output with snortdb.  Unfortunately we only have
a LinuxPPC box to do this with, and Oracle doesn't make clients built to
LinuxPPC per se.

Does the snortdb require the standard set of Oracle libraries or is it
independent of the libraries necessary when it connects natively to the
database?

    Is the dbname the SID, SERVICE_NAME, or something else (since you
wouldn't have a tnsnames.ora file)

else #Warning, stupid question,
     I'm assuming  .so libraries can be platform independant, which is
probably a bad/stupid assumption, to cobble something together.  Maybe
32bit AIX Oracle libs would work (if they exist)...
