chris,I find that the generic kernel gets the job done, assuming the job is fairly generic. I prefer to compile in only what I need, and that ALWAYS means network optimizations. The generic OpenBSD kernel is a little less bloated than a default RedHat or SuSE install these days, however, so you can still get away running it, unlike Linux systems that, IMHO, require a kernel rebuild to even begin to be functional.

What are you OpenBSD users using for kernel options or are you running the generic kernels. I have all the unnecessary pcmcia and scsi stuff commented out, but I'm thinking that I should probably use the options used for a firewall and network optimizations from the OBSD FAQ Chapter 11 verses 1 and 2 and the hints from www.openlysecure.org.
