Thank You! The classification.config file was remarked out. Like I said, relatively new. It is critical to the interpretation of the priorities in the standard snort rules. This file should be referenced from snort.conf with this line before your rule files are included: include classification.config My first suggestion is to make sure you have this file, and it is referenced from snort.conf. That's my "first guess which is most likely causing the problem", let the list know if that doesn't solve your problem. At 09:08 AM 12/14/2001 -0800, you wrote:
New run at this, I have installed Snort IDSCenter 1.09 beta on WIN2K Server box, and have set up the configuration as best I can tell. After applying the rulesets I wish to use, every rule gets returned with an error code "Bad Priority Setting". with reference to the Standards classification of each rule. Anybody run in to this? Thanx in advance.
