A temp fix ( linux specific) can also be achieved by using bonding (you
can just put 1 eth in there if you like)  then if the underying eth is
in promisc mode and snort is acting on the bondX interface the interface
remains in promisc mode as changes need to be made to ethX not bondX
which snort wont touch in this case
