Snort MySQL Client traffic to MySQL database

Does anyone know if there's a caching mechanism in the way Snort uses the MySQL library to send events to the database. The reason I am asking is what happens in the event that the MySQL server is unavailable? Do the events get cached? If so, how much cache? Is this tunable? Regards, Steve
