Can you use the precompiled binaries to run with mysql or do you need (or is it better) to compile it with the mysql switch to use it?
What binary? What OS? On the overall, it's basically better to build your own no matter what. Since, you're overly paranoid--Hey, You're running an IDS! ;-)-- _ALWAYS_ build your own software. Unless you trust some nameless person to build it for you. ;-) Check here for some various binaries with MySQL support. http://www.snort.org/dl/binaries/1.9.0/ Cheers! ----- Erek Adams "When things get weird, the weird turn pro."
