Restart your MySQL DB with the --log= option and give it a file to log 
trace output to.  Tail -f this file and then try to move some alerts to 
your archive DB.  This will allow you to see exactly what DB calls are 
being made to MySQL.  Hopefully that will help you figure out why you can't 
see the migrated alerts.
