udated curl problem

I updated openssl and curl to versions:

openssl-0.9.7a
curl-7-10.4

using tar.gz files

commands
for curl

./configure --with-ssl --enable-ssl
make
make install

Now I get this error when snortcenter tries to connect
with the sensor:

curl: (1) libcurl was built with SSL disabled, https:
not supported!

I have no ideas how to solve this one. I've tried
variations of the configure:

example ./configure --with-ssl=/usr

but nothing seems to work.

I really have big problems :)
