This error occurs because Snort isn't able to log into the database.
You need to check that the user permissions in MySQL for snort@localhost
are set, and that the right password is set in snort.conf.

ok, i just about have snort running at this point...  however when it
starts it immediatley crashes and i get this message in the messages log
file: Jun  2 15:03:32 joel snort: FATAL ERROR: database: mysql_error:
Access denied for user: 'snort@127.0.0.1' (Using password: YES)

Anyone have a clue why it would be giving me this type of hassle?
