There is one possibility :
http://www.geocities.com/samngms/sniffing_cable/index.htm -- how to make a
sniffing (read-only) cable.
Or a second one -- you may want to look into spanning/mirroring solution
(which is the best) if that company is having CISCO/HP or any other type of
intelligent/manageable switch.
Here is the info about this --

pan.htm

Subject: [Snort-users] OT-Read Only Network cables

I have seen a reference or two in this list about read-only network cables.
Does anyone have a website or other documentation on how to make them? Is
it just a matter of snipping the send pair on a cat5? I'm putting together
some IDS boxes for a couple of companies that are too cheap/can't afford
taps.
