Sam, On the Snort.org home page under the heading "Snort 2.0 release available" there is a link: http://www.snort.org/dl/snort-2.0.0.tar.gz Going thru the code "config.h" shows: #define VERSION "2.0.0rc5"VERSION_ENABLE_ODBC""VERSION_ENABLE_MYSQL""VERSION_ENABLE_MSSQL""V ERSION_ENABLE_RESPONSE"-WIN32"VERSION_DEBUG Going thru the code "snort.h" shows: #define BUILD "72" -Michael -- Michael Steele | System Engineer / Support Technician mailto:michaels () silicondefense com Silicon Defense - The Cyber-War Defense Company Website: http://www.silicondefense.com Snort: Open Source Network IDS - http://www.snort.org -----Original Message----- From: Sam Evans [mailto:sam () neuroflux com] Sent: Thursday, April 17, 2003 8:15 AM To: Michael Steele Cc: snort-users () lists sourceforge net inline ... All, Questions: 1. Why is Snort 1.9.1 not being patched? IMHO this is a big mistake as
some
users are not ready for 2.0.x yet.
I would have to agree with this.. Seems like not patching snort 1.9.1 is a cheap strongarm tactic to get people to move to 2.0.0
2. Why was there a 2.0.0 Release announcement when in fact there is no
such
release? If you download the 2.0.0 release you get Snort 2.0.0 RC5 b72.
Hmm.. When I do a snort -V I get this: -*> Snort! <*- Version 2.0.0 (Build 72) By Martin Roesch (roesch () sourcefire com, www.snort.org) Seems like it's the real meal deal to me. Maybe you got an old tarball?
