Is sad than the SNMP support was removed; I think that feature was very important because if you have a very good NMS (like OpenNMS) you can centralize all the notifications and redirect them to the appropriate groups (something the Snort doesn't have and it shouldn't). Also the user base for Snort 1.9 (the one that is not ready to move yet to 2.0) would benefit for such patch (for example we just commented out the preprocesor line because we don't have the time to deal with the lack of SNMP output support on Snort 2.0). Does anyone know if the SNMP support will be added to the application anytime in the future? Thanks in advance, JV. On Thu, 2003-04-17 at 11:15, Sam Evans wrote:

IMHO this is a big mistake as some users are not ready for 2.0.x yet.I would have to agree with this.. Seems like not patching snort 1.9.1 is a cheap strongarm tactic to get people to move to 2.0.02. Why was there a 2.0.0 Release announcement when in fact there is no such release? If you download the 2.0.0 release you get Snort 2.0.0 RC5 b72.Hmm.. When I do a snort -V I get this: -*> Snort! <*- Version 2.0.0 (Build 72) By Martin Roesch (roesch () sourcefire com, www.snort.org) Seems like it's the real meal deal to me.
