Very few Snort alerts

Hi,

I have recently installed snort + mysql + acid on my RedHat 9.0 machine. I'm
not getting a lot of alerts from my snort machine. The only alerts are the
ones that I came from port scanning websites that I have used to test the
IDS.

I'm sitting on a home DSL connection but I thought I should be getting a few
alerts in a day, especially nmap port scans. But this is happening. It's all
too quiet on my machine.

Any help will be appreciated.
