Can you explain why you think there is no performance difference?
If that is what you are implying...

Can you also please let me know how to see the statistics of what
packets snort is dropping within windows?
Very easy in linux so you can see how it is performing immediately and
then tune it further as needed. 

I never worked out how to do it in windows and was therefore never
confident enough to run it on heavily utilised network segments.
If windows had that feature it would be easy to see the performance
difference between the two.

If you can then that would be cool.
