problem mysql

i have installed mysql .rpm (v 4.3.3) and i have installed snort distributions (v2.1.1) ,but when i want to 
configure my snort as NIDS and i make (snort -dev -l ./log -h @ip network -c snort.conf) it gave an error that i 
shoulf re-run my snort or meke ./configure --with-mysql=DIR and i do it but still gave me the same error .
i have tried many solutions like i re-installed snort and i reconfigure my database but no way , always the same 
error and i can't work with my snort.
