mysql-standard-4.0.18-pc-linux-i686 is your problem (that is not the
source).  That document assumes you will follow it line by line or you
are familiar enough with Linux and compiling programs to be able to use
it as a simple guideline.  

I have a newer document out for Fedora Core 1, installing everything
possible via RPM's.  I just finished the testing on it and everything is
working great with it.  You can find it at

other problem is that m not able to run make and make install command
while installing mysql but mysql seems to running with it .

requesting for a prompt reply, have been doing the same for almost a
month now
