Subject: [Snort-users] Which switches are recommended

Anyway, are there any other switches being used that permit the Snort
IDS to monitor traffic in the switch (without using an
external device?).

Cisco and the 3com 'super stacks' (the 3com only allows one per switch),
some of the cisco's only allow monitoring only (port can't be used for
bidirectional traffic)

A $13 hub might break, so, do the right thing.
