Sensor insertion options.

My sites are starting to migrate to the following design: /-------------------switches ------------------------\ | | | /---------------more switches----------------\ | | | | | | | Etherchannel | | Cisco 3750 =================== Cisco 3750 | | | | \ | | | | \ | \--------------more switches------------------/ | \ | | Cisco 2651 \---------------- more switches -------------------/ Currently the deployments are pretty simple. Each site has 1 Span port, 1 NIC and 1 instance of Snort running. That obviously isn't going to work here. The 3750's are load balancing. Should I: - Buy a TAP and insert between the 3750 and 2651. We have a lot of sites so this will get expensive. There is also the chance that the 2651 will ultimately be eliminated. This means that uplink might ultimately move from copper to fiber and the TAPS might be obsolesced prematurely. Are there affordable models that support both? - SPAN on each 3750 and? Just not sure what I would end up seeing - Other options? I appreciate any insight/recommendations. Thanks. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Splunk Inc. Still grepping through log files to find problems? Stop.
