snort report no data.

hi all,
i have successfully install snort on ubuntu server 32bit.
i follow guide on http://www.snort.org/assets/158/snortinstallguide293.pdf
for your info. my snort running on virtual box.my main OS windows 7 64bit.
i have set my virtual box to use bridged adapter and set to promisc mode.
i use managed switch on port mirror. i have test the switch using wireshark
on windows, it can sniff traffic from LAN.
my problem is, when i do nmap on my network, my snortreport show no data.
how i can troubleshoot this?
i take me for two weeks already to figure out the solution.
