Snort Discards Packets.What does that mean?

I use snort to replay a pcap file an generate some alerts.I have a
rule for icmp packets but when i replay the pcap file with snort snort
doesn't generate any alerts and shows that all the packets are
discards (IP4 Disc).What does that mean?
