Snort Rules Sensors

Hi.

I am not so sure if this is the right place to ask this question, but
anyway. (I know it might by a stupid question ;) )

I would like to buy snort Rule Business Subscription, the price is per
"sensor". What do You mean "sensor"? Is it the machine on which IDS is
running or is it a snort sensors behind every router or firewall.
