Hi everybody This is my first post in the List, I'm using tcpdump to monitor packets, however I would like to know exactly how tcpdump is doing the time stamp I would like to know if tcpdump assign the time stamp when the first bit in the packet is just to be delivered or when the packet has already delivered the last bit. And in other case if a packet is received how is time stamped when the first bit enters or when the last bit is received. Maybe this question is silly but I really don't know how tcpdump makes the time stamp. For example: ________ ________ | | | | |Packet 1| |Packet 2| |________| |________| | | | | | | +Timestamp 1 +Timestamp 2 ________ ________ | | | | |Packet 1| |Packet 2| |________| |________| | | | | | | +Timestamp 1 +Timestamp 2 Regards Marcos - This is the TCPDUMP workers list. It is archived at http://www.tcpdump.org/lists/workers/index.html To unsubscribe use mailto:tcpdump-workers-request () tcpdump org?body=unsubscribe
