sniffing HTTP traffic to load-balancer on a dedicated machine

Hi,

I am looking for a solution that sniffs all HTTP traffic to the
load-balancer in a multi-tier web application, but WITHOUT starting
tcpdump on the load-balancer itself. The sniffing has to be isolated
on a dedicated machine, without having to change anything to the web
application itself. If the dedicated sniff-machine shuts down, the web
application CANNOT be affected. The dedicated sniff-machine should run
Linux, preferably Ubuntu. I am looking for a cheap solution in terms
of hardware. But most important is that the solution is non-intrusive
to the web application to be sniffed. I am sure I am not the first, so
any help appreciated!

Thank you,
Andrej
