Hi,

There is a possibility to format a floppy in different format that the
"standart" (used by PC).

I have been using this feature some time ago to format 18 sectors labeled
1-18, 512 bytes each _and_ to insert another sector with some high number
and smaller size .. it fit in a floppy, we just need to decrease a space
between sectors a little bit ;)

Now each standart copy program, even so called low-level, would see only the
standart 18 sectors and copy them .. but it will not work because it's copy
:)

If you want to take a look at some code to play with strange format then I
think "2M" is one of the bests. It's program that allows you to format
floppies so they are "bigger" _and_ faster, it comes with source code so you
can look how to read / write nonstandart formats on PC.

It even comes with a tool that just starts floppy controller and reads one
of the tracks sector by sector (ie. reads sector' markers from the floppy)
so you can see how the disk is really formatted :)

So now we redefine what is low-level access :)

On the other hand I'm not aware of any copier that has build in support for
such formats ;o) so you can eventually write something on your own (basing
on the code from 2M for example)

Hope this helps,
Slawek
