Security problems of PDA

Hi,

does anybody have experiences concerning possible security problems using PDA?

I connect my Compaq iPAQ on one side via GSM Handy to the internet (IP) on the other side it is connected via serial 
interface on COM1 to my workstation. Over the connection to the workstation I run the synchronisation of outlook.

My question:

1. Is it possible to attack my workstation via the PDA with viruses or intrusions? If yes, how does the attack work?

2. Can the problem be reduced, if I synchronise only the calendar?
