Binaries for Compaq Tru64 UNIX 5.0 can be found there which most likely will work on 5.1 as well (no access to Tru64 to test).IIRC, 5.0 and 5.1 are widely different, although you wouldn't expect that from the version number.
You're right. I actually haven't seen a Tru64 machine in ages and was just assuming that 5.1 was similar enough to 5.0 to make gdb run. Querying the GNATS bug database located at http://sources.redhat.com/cgi-bin/gnatsweb.pl yields to open bugs (PR 237 and PR 323) in gdb that seem to indicate that Compaq Tru64 UNIX 5.1 is not a supported platform for gdb (up to?) 5.1 Posts on the Tru64 managers mailing list (tru64-unix-managers at ornl.gov), archive to be found at http://www.ornl.gov/its/archives/mailing-lists indicate the same.
