really? That's odd... This trick worked as stated on my win2k box. What version of win2k are you using? I believe I'm using the latest patches w/ sp's on a us-win2k install. cheers nick ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bojan Zdrnja" <Bojan.Zdrnja () FER hr> To: "'Patrick Chambet'" <patrick.chambet () edelweb fr>; <vuln-dev () security-focus com> Sent: Friday, January 11, 2002 02:26 Subject: RE: How to hide a file ? -----Original Message----- From: Patrick Chambet [mailto:patrick.chambet () edelweb fr]Example 1: - Create a text file C:\test.txt - Rename it: C:\Control Panel.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D} Its icon changes and looks like the real Control Panel. If you double-click on it, the Control Panel opens. But you can easily edit it with Notepad, provinding its full path.Very interesting. :) However, on Windows 2000 when I double-click on it (of course, after changing file name) Control Panel does not open. Instead of that, I get
Open
With dialog and I can see file name at the top. Regards, Bojan Zdrnja
