Administrivia: Moderation Status (now til Feb 4); Topics of Conversation I'd like to see in 2009!

I'm returning to Australia (permanently), and so the process of
packing up house and getting a new job* is going to distract me
somewhat from my moderation here. It might take a bit longer than
average to process your posts, like 24-48 hours in some cases. It
shouldn't be too bad in most cases, so I'm just letting you know why
your post hasn't come through before you freak out and re-submit it
(happens more often than you think), or you seek out the mail list
gods here at SF and hassle them.

However, once in back Australia, I currently have no appointments in
my dance calendar** and so your webappsec mail list goodness will
return to normal around February 4 or so.

** Topics of conversation: Let's get this list going again! **

I'd like to turn the list's thoughts to some ideas of conversations
I'd like to see:

* Educating CS / CSE majors. What can be done to get out there and
ensure every course has a mandatory webappsec subject?
* Future of webappsec. What is left to be worked out to help
developers and architects build secure software the first time around?
* Cutting edge stuff. What are you doing that is particularly cool or
bleeding edge?

I really want 2009 to be a block buster year here, so I will be
contributing a lot more threads to get folks talking again.

thanks,
Andrew (your friendly webappsec mail list moderator)

* Please forgive my cheeky job seeking, but if you have or know of any
job openings for a web app security specialist, particularly one who
can work remotely or onsite in or around Melbourne Australia, I'd love
to hear from you (privately!). Check my details out on Linked In or if
you need a resume, e-mail me privately.

** Actually, I have two - I am most likely going to speak at OWASP AU
(http://www.owasp.org/index.php/OWASP_AU_Conference_2009). I'm also
likely to do a podcast for OWASP before leaving the US. Details are
being worked out!
