Thanks Broman:

You said checking it in my own spread sheet. Isnt this a lengthy process. I mean entering 1 frame arrival time time
than second frame and than 3 and till up to last frame some where around in thousands. Than calculating D values using
this formula ->

D(i,j) = (Rj - Ri) - (Sj - Si) = (Rj - Sj) - (Ri - Si)
and than J value using

J(i) = J(i-1) + (|D(i-1,i)| - J(i-1))/16

May be i am missing the point if there is some other way of doing it manually.

Regards,

Hi!

If i calcuate jitter using wireshark can i say it objective measurement?
For a G.711 stream with out telephony-event etc*, I'd say yes at the point in the network where the measurement is made.
E.g Tracing the in coming stream at the client(s).
But the end result to the user depends also on the ability of the codec to do error concealment.

*Wiresharks calculations may not be accurate in all situations.
Exporting the values and double check them in your own spread sheet wouldn't hurt :-)

Hi!

I know there is special ITU model for objective measurement in VoIP but we can count wireshark in that on general node.

Regards,

I'm not sure what you mean. It's not easy to make measurements on a system that will accurately predict the users
perception of
the voice/video quality.
