make osx-package fails: svnversion.h no such file or directory

After a fresh svn d/l of the 1.2 trunk, I create the configure script,  
run it, and then 'make osx-package', but svnversion.h has not been  
made by the perl script.  Is that on purpose or is there a missing  
dependency in the Makefile?
