From: "Gerald Combs" <gerald () wireshark org> | I am excited to announce that Wireshark has a new home. CACE | Technologies, Wireshark's primary sponsor and my employer, has been | acquired by Riverbed Technology (NASDAQ:RVBD). | Riverbed is an exciting, fast-growing company that makes WAN | optimization and IT performance management products. We started a | serious conversation with them concerning acquisition during SHARKFEST | this past June. Much of the conversation was about keeping Wireshark | the way it is: strong, independent, and community-driven. The more we | spoke with them the more we saw a perfect fit. Riverbed truly | understands computer networking, and their very talented management team | has such clear vision that we feel very comfortable betting our future | on them. Their co-founder and CTO, Steve McCanne, is one of the pioneers | of our field. He created BPF, libpcap and NS. | Very little is going to change for Wireshark in this transition. I will | stay onboard and keep running things in the same way you are all used | to. The only difference will be the additional resources that a larger | company will lend to the project. | Wireshark would not be the world's leading network analyzer were it not | for its talented and dedicated community of users and contributors. | Everyone at CACE Technologies recognizes that, and we would like to | thank each of you for having been with us on this journey. As we | continue the journey as Riverbed employees we are still committed to | working with and for you. I have no doubt that Wireshark will thrive for | years to come. | If you have questions please ask them on this list or on | ask.wireshark.org and I'll answer as quickly as possible. | ___________________________________________________________________________ Best 'o Luck in the new venture. -- Dave Multi-AV Scanning Tool - http://www.pctipp.ch/downloads/dl/35905.asp ___________________________________________________________________________ Sent via: Wireshark-dev mailing list <wireshark-dev () wireshark org> Archives: http://www.wireshark.org/lists/wireshark-dev Unsubscribe: https://wireshark.org/mailman/options/wireshark-dev mailto:wireshark-dev-request () wireshark org?subject=unsubscribe
