As /Stephen/ Donnelly so graciously pointed out to me a sharkfest or so 
ago, that information isn't transmitted via packets. THEREFORE, 
wireshark might be unable to serve in the role of "most effective 
mechanism whereby one might glean/infer speed/duplex settings"

As far as the second request is concerned, why didn't filtering for the 
hex equivalent of the phrase not work?
