Yosi, if you want to provide this plugin to anyone outside your company, you are required to make the source available on request by anyone (not just the receivers of the binary plugins). Depending on what the plugin does, it might be easier to have it integrated into the official Wireshark source. In case you want to do this, please follow section "1.11 Submitting code for your new dissector." in doc/README.developer. Thanks Jörg On Sun, Jul 22, 2012 at 02:24:51PM +0300, Yosi Saggi wrote:
I need some help regarding license issues with wireshark. I have written a plug-in for wireshark for our proprietary API between MAC and PHY. This plug-in is to be used by clients and my company for debugging API traffic between PHY and MAC. I would like to know if I need to publish the dll somewhere or upload the source codes to the wireshark trunk? What do I need to do in this case where this plug-in will be used on wireshark? I tried to understand it from the GPL FAQ <http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-faq.html> but didn't understand where I stand in this case.
