Simplest, perhaps, but my recent changes to get rid of the cf_close() before starting a -k capture also appear >to 
have fixed it.

Pressing the menu button "start a new live capture" before doing any other GUI action still crashes WS.

(The menu issues with Lua plugins are probably still there, however.)
