If the user has not selected a default interface at Edit Preferences

I would prefer to follow what the user has configured. No default interface.

How about on a single-interface system? Maybe Wireshark should at least select the only listed interface as the
default on a single-interface system. That IS going to be the interface that the user selects before each capture.
Correct. But is there a system with only a single interface? All the systems I use have a loopback
interface and at least one more... Since I'm not using Solaris, I can always capture on two interfaces
at least. Are there systems out there with only a single interface?
On a multiple interface system, I can see the logic of either method--either selecting the first interface or
selecting no interface if the user has not specified a default. Neither method is clearly superior and the choice of
which should be implemented is a matter of opinion.
OK.
